Committed to building a school with ideological strength, the school follows the educational philosophy: Enlighten Minds, Uphold Morality; Foster Virtues and Cultivate Talents. It takes "Cultivate Sunny Youths, Empower the Future" as its educational goal, and adheres to the development strategy featuring global vision, profound cultural heritage, distinctive curricula, leadership-driven teachers and smart campus. It continuously builds its Sunshine Education brand, creates a nurturing environment that combines scholarly demeanor with a positive spirit, and strives to cultivate sunny youths who develop actively and holistically, as well as erudite and wise teachers.
With the mission of cultivating sunny youths, the school leverages the Sunward Curriculum System to achieve five key curriculum objectives: consolidating cultural foundations, stimulating innovative thinking, cultivating aesthetic taste, fostering physical and mental well-being, and building a strong sense of responsibility. To this end, the school has established its "1-4-5 Sunshine Curriculum System" (1 Core, 4 Tiers, 5 Dimensions). It has also formed a dual-layer model combining basic compulsory courses and personalized development courses. Meanwhile, it has created an "experiential" classroom teaching model. With systematically designed interdisciplinary Project-Based Learning (PBL) programs, it breaks traditional subject boundaries and integrates moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education into real-world problem-solving scenarios. Furthermore, it has launched the Education via Assignments initiative and designed interdisciplinary 1+X competency-oriented assignments to transform learning styles and cultivate confident, diligent, healthy and progressive young talents.
The school is actively exploring the digital transformation of education. Drawing on CCNU's experience in cooperative basic education programs, it uses digital platforms to implement a series of innovative practices, including cloud-based classrooms, teaching and research, think tanks, analytics, and training. Through the integration of digital and intelligent technologies, the school promotes co-construction and shared resources among its educational consortium, fostering mutual progress and shared success. The educational consortium initiative has evolved from initial pilot projects into comprehensive cloud-based collaboration, expanding from a regional consortium of a few schools to nearly 100 educational communities across 20 provinces, 4 autonomous regions and 3 municipalities directly under the central government.
The school acts as a base for educational internships, educational theory and practice, educational research, supervisor training for Master of Education students and overseas Chinese language teacher training. It undertakes various research and training tasks such as basic education experiments, academic research, teaching internships and mentor training. It also undertakes key national tasks: overseas Chinese language teacher training for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the group-based educational support program for Xizang, the Ministry of Education's Collaborative Teacher Education Quality Improvement Initiative, and Chinese teacher training in Hong Kong.
Over its more than 70 years of development, the Primary School Affiliated to CCNU has formed a distinctive culture featuring dedication to education, keeping pace with the times and pursuit of excellence. It has received numerous honors including Model School of Wuhan and Hubei Province, Top 50 Schools for Educational Research in Hubei Province, Wuhan Compulsory Education Standard-Compliant School, National Characteristic School for Aviation, and National Characteristic School for Campus Football. It is also Wuhan’s Model School for International Understanding Education, Modern School, Calligraphy Teaching Experimental School and Five-star Smart Campus, as well as a partner school for China-UK and China-Canada Youth Cultural Exchange Programs.
